Period 3 IRLA – IRLA homework is a continuous process. There is IRLA homework every night.
- Independent Reading - Read and respond every night (at least 5 out of 7 days per week)! RN is due on Fridays of each week. When you complete a book, enter the information into our Independent Reading Spreadsheet.
- Wordly Wise – Study your words each day and use our word study site to help you study: Word Study (See Infinite Campus for individual due dates for assignments).
- Blog posts - Students are responsible for checking the main page of our classroom blog regularly and writing a comment for each IRLA blog post. (Please also respond to your classmates’ comments and discuss their ideas further. Parents, you are invited to join in the discussions as well!) (See infinite campus for individual due dates for assignments.)
Period 7 Science - Science homework is a continuous process. There is science homework every night.
- Research – We will continue to have ongoing research projects for the remainder of the year. Consult with your group members and discuss (in person or through the Google Docs) what you need to do for your project. (See infinite campus for individual due dates for assignments.)
- Reflections - Occasionally, specific reflection prompts will be assigned. If no prompt has been assigned, then consult the Overview and Key Terms sheet for the current unit, and answer any of the following: What did we do in class today, and why? What was the day’s essential question, and answer? What do you need to clarify tomorrow in school? What do you need to do to prepare for tomorrow’s lesson? Record your reflections (writing and/or drawings) in your science journal.
- Blog posts - Students are responsible for checking the main page of our classroom blog regularly and writing a comment for each SCIENCE blog post. (Please also respond to your classmates’ comments and discuss their ideas further. Parents, you are invited to join in the discussions as well!) (See infinite campus for individual due dates for assignments.)
Homework Guidelines:
- You should ALWAYS write your assignments down in your agenda.
- Everyone begins the marking period with an average of 100% for homework.
- Homework will make up 10% of your final grade each marking period.
- All homework assigned has purpose and MUST be completed. I do not assign or believe in homework just for the sake of homework. Homework helps us reinforce what we learn in school each day and makes what we do the next day a lot easier!
- If for any reason you miss a homework assignment, it is expected that you will make it up.
- Incomplete homework is considered missing homework and will therefore bring down the homework average. I will not ask you to do an assignment that you will not be able to do at home in the amount of time given.
- Tips to make sure that you maintain a 100% average on homework each marking period:
*Write down the assignment and ask questions about the homework before you leave class.
*Always do your best…even if they assignment is not perfect, I can tell when you try!
*Contact a friend from class to talk about the assignment if you have questions at home.
*Email me (after you have talked to at least two friends) if you still have a question that no one else can help you with.
*Do not put off long-term assignments until the last minute. (You are given a lot of time for these assignments for a reason.)
*Try to have fun with your assignments! If you let them be fun, they will be much easier to do!
