BOOK REVIEW: Cindy Ella (Ari M.)

Posted on October 6, 2008. Filed under: Reading | Tags: , |

I read the book Cindy Ella by Robin Palmer during the summer.  It was a real page turner; once I started I could not stop.

The story is about a girl named Cindy Ella who lives a very crazy life, with a one year old brother, two mean step sisters, a hypochondriac as a step mother, and a workaholic father.  Being in a family with two sisters that think being shallow is not a bad thing, home isn’t her favorite spot in L.A.  Also, the fact that she is against prom and all things fashion means that neither is school, but on prom night she finds out that her email pal, Booklyn boy, is a.k.a. John Silver her secret crush from school.  So she has a few hours to find a dress, pair of high heels, and to turn from Cindy Ella to Cinderella before her date at eight.

I enjoyed this book, because it was very well written, and it gave a modern twist to the old story of Cinderella.  Any girl can relate to ideas such as school, crushes, trust, and friendship.  It’s an adventure no one would want to miss out on.

I would recommend this book to others because the characters seemed so alive, that you can imagine this happening in real life.  This book is so good you won’t want to go to sleep without knowing what happens next. I would also recommend other books by Robin Palmer.

Hi Ari,

What a wonderful twist on one of the great love stories ever written! Your insights allowed me to visualize a modern day fairytale… well done.
