POETRY RESPONSE: Langston Hughes (Dan P.)

Posted on November 3, 2008. Filed under: Poetry Responses | Tags: , |

I read two poems by Langston Hughes.  He is an African-American poet.  The two poems I read were “Dreams Deferred” and “Dreams.”  They are about dreams and what it would be if we did not have dreams.  The second poem is also about dreams and the value of dreams and how important they are.

My reaction to the poem “Dream Deferred” was that it was a good poem and that it is very descriptive because I felt that I was really there.

For the second poem “Dreams” my reaction was that it was a good poem and that I liked the meaning.  The meaning was about how to value our dreams.

These poems are great.  I like to read other poems from Hughes.  I like poems that have a good topic.  I like poems that are descriptive.

Hi Dan
What kind of dreams do you think Langston Hughes was writing about? There are different types of dreams.
