Getting Started with Self-Reflection Part II (adding more features to Google Sites)

Hey 7C!

I’m really impressed with the job you’ve done so far setting up your portfolios and that almost all of you have posted at least one comment here on our blog.  We are off to a fantastic start!

I’m still in the process of reading over your answers to the IRLA survey.  You gave me a lot of important information that will help as I plan for our classes this year.  Thank you!  🙂

During Monday’s IRLA class, we will continue to set up some more of your portfolios in the computer lab.  (We’ll be adding pages for each of the first few units of study.  Also, we’ll be setting up the reflection journal, so you can write your first entry!)  You should report directly to the computer lab again…and remember to BRING A SWEATER if you were cold on Friday.

We will need to create an account with Quia.  Follow these directions.

Then we will take the Grammar Pre-Assessment.

Also, please remember that you will report to your 3rd period class for Flex on Monday to discuss your summer reading book.  You should bring with you:

  • Your summer reading book (if you still have it)
  • The three entries that you wrote in response to the book
  • Any other reading work (notes or other responses)

REMINDERS:

  • The summer reading assessment will be in class on Tuesday, and you will need to bring ALL your summer reading materials to class.
  • The ERB will be on Thursday and Friday this week (9/13 and 9/14).
  • IRLA forms and supplies are due by Friday, 9/14.
  • IRLA homework is posted through Infinite Campus…so make sure you log in so you can see your upcoming assignments.

Is it 3rd per. flex for the rest of the week? or will it change?

Good question. That’s just for Monday. (We’ll let you know about the rest of the week on Monday.)

Do we have to bring in our summer reading books for the assessment? “…bring ALL your summer reading materials to class.” (I don’t have my book, I got it from the library.)

Hi Trinity,
If you no longer have a copy of the book, just bring the entries and your other notes from when you read it. On Monday, you may want to flip through someone else’s copy just to refresh your memory a little bit, but you don’t need it to complete the essay on Tuesday.

I’m glad you asked, because I’m sure many other students are in the same situation. ~Ms. Morris

Thank you Ms. Morris!

Good to know. Thanks Ms. Morris! Even though it isn’t required to bring your book for when you write your essay, can you?

Absolutely!

Ok good. Thanks!

If we didn’t get to go to the computer lab, do you know when we might be able to?

Soon! I will let you know tomorrow, but it looks like either Wednesday of this week or Monday of next week. 🙂

Tuesday of next week. We have Monday off!!! 🙂

You’re correct! Thank you.

Of course! 🙂

are we going to the computer lab to keep updating our portfolios tomorrow?

Not tomorrow…tomorrow is the ERB. We will go again soon. I’m hoping for one day next week. 🙂
