Week at a glance ~ 3/4/13 to 3/8/13

Posted on March 3, 2013. Filed under: IRLA Class |

Hi everyone!

READING:  We’ll be wrapping up our informational nonfiction unit this week, but first we will continue our celebration of Dr. Seuss’ work by responding to our informational nonfiction in the voice of Dr. Seuss.  Don’t think it can be done?  Well, there is actually a series of nonfiction books written just like this called The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library

WORD STUDY:  Remember that we also have our Wordly Wise midterm this Friday.  You all came up with great ways to review your words such as:

  • going over old proofs of study
  • taking the old Wordly Wise quizzes again on Quia
  • visiting the WordlyWise3000 website
  • using Quizlet
  • and more!

TIP:  Don’t try to study all of the 150 words we’ve covered so far this year; evaluate the lists for the words you know the least and then spend your time studying those.  For lots of other resources, visit our Word Study site.

As promised, here is the rubric for the NFRR2.

  • Props and set crew for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown will meet Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week.
  • Enter books you read in the month of March in the Media Center form for the Challenge of One Thousand Books.
  • Flex rotation is:
    • Monday – period 3
    • Tuesday – period 4
    • Wednesday – TBA
    • Thursday – period 5
    • Friday – period 8

Ms. Morris,

How do we set up a proof of study if we don’t need to study all 150 words? Do we just do the proof of study on the words that bother us?

For the reading response if we read more than one book are we allowed to do 1 reflection for all the books

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Email me directly with specific questions about assignments next time. 🙂

I know this is a bit late, but my main entry on the NFRR2 is summarizing the information in the book (in Dr. Seuss style), so do I need to include an objective summary. (I will include everything else).

Ms. Morris,

It is up to you.
