Week at a glance ~ 3/11/13 to 3/15/13

Posted on March 10, 2013. Filed under: IRLA Class | Tags: |

Hey everyone!

Since we finished up our nonfiction unit last week, we are doing a number of things this week.

WRITING:
To start, we will be getting back our literary essays and working with our social studies essays in class.  Our focus will be to revise the essays to better incorporate text support and use effective transitions.  (If you decide to revise your literary essay for credit, you will need to hand it in by Friday this week.)

WORD STUDY and GRAMMAR:
We will be starting with list #11 this week.  (Assessment will be on 3/20.)  And we will be reviewing grammar concepts covered so far this year as well as working with articles (the, a, an, etc).

READING:
Our next reading and writing unit will be historical fiction; if you are looking for a new book, try to pick something that is historical fiction!  We have a bunch of titles to choose from in the classroom.

Speaking of books…don’t forget about the Challenge of One Thousand Books!  I really think that 7C can read more books this month than any other team.  Remember to log in each book you read and then see Mrs. Hasler in the media center for a prize ticket.  🙂

ANNOUNCEMENTS and REMINDERS:

  • Tickets for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown go on sale this week.  Come see a great show!
  • Flex this week:
    • Monday – period 3
    • Tuesday – period 4
    • Wednesday – TBA
    • Thursday – period 5
    • Friday – period 8

Ms. Morris,

So to clarify, we have to print out a copy of the SS Manifest Destiny Essay for tomorrow?

Thanks! 😀
